Simon Malépart is an incoming PhD student at McGill University, working on the history of Germany and modern Europe. He is currently working under Kendra Gaede to locate various genealogical and historical documents for Marin Immigration Law.
His research looks specifically at the formation of East German identity at the start of the Cold War, combining history with politics and Nietzschean and Marxist philosophy. He is particularly interested in the dissemination of ideas and the process of identity formation at the national level. His academic background and current research in history have provided him with fundamental archival research experience.
